To preserve and keep kitchen utensils in good condition, it is necessary to give them basic care, since over time, poor cleaning, use, rust, and the way they are stored, deteriorate.

Wash new utensils before using them

When buying a new utensil, it is very important before using it to remove all kinds of labels, seals, and wrappers and wash them with hot water and soap to remove traces of lubricants or dirt that they may have.

Wash utensils immediately after use

This will prevent leftover food from sticking together and becoming very difficult to remove. If for some reason, it is not possible to wash immediately, it is recommended to leave everything in the sink and fill it with water so that the remains soften, and then washing is easier.

wash glass utensils

Do not wash glass utensils with aluminum or wire sponges, as they can scratch them.

wash blades

Never wash the blades with hot water as it takes away the edge.

Wash non-stick surfaces

It is necessary to wait for the surface to cool completely before washing. Then clean it with hot water, soap, and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive products or sponges that can scratch. Dry immediately after washing to preserve the surface and be careful not to stack utensils with this type of surface or place a bag between them to prevent scratches.

Curing of wooden spoons, boards, and plates

When buying wooden spoons, boards, or plates for the first time, it is necessary to leave them submerged in apple cider vinegar for 12 hours to prevent food odors from permeating the wood.

Curing of aluminum and stainless steel

When buying any pot or pan made of these materials, it is necessary to wash, dry and then pour a little vegetable oil on the surface and cook over moderate heat for 5 to 10 minutes. When the oil turns amber turn off the heat and waits for it to cool. Remove the rest of the oil and wipe with a paper towel until dry. After each use wash with mild soap.

Curing carbon pans

These types of pans come with mineral oil on the surface. When you buy them, remove that oil and wash them with hot water and soap. After each use, clean with grease or oil to prevent rust. Over time, the pan will turn black.

appliance maintenance

Always keep regularly used appliances clean: Microwave, blender, mixer, food processor, etc.

Remove food residues stuck in the pots

Many times the food sticks or burns a little and it is difficult to remove only with a sponge and soapy water. For this reason, bringing the pot to the fire with a little water and vinegar for 10 minutes helps the remains to come off the bottom. Then wash as usual.
